LED walls and video walls
LED walls and video walls, sharp at any distance.
Kooijman Connection supplies and installs LED walls, video walls and laser projection for reception areas, halls, retail, hospitality and clubs. We match the pixel pitch to the viewing distance, build the structure, calibrate the picture and manage it afterwards.
What is an LED wall?
An LED wall is a display built from modules of individual LEDs, without seams and in almost any size. The closer the LEDs sit together (the pixel pitch), the sharper the picture up close. An LED wall is bright enough for rooms with daylight and lasts for years.
- 01LED modules
- Panels (cabinets) that together form the picture, in the pitch that suits the viewing distance.
- 02Structure
- Wall-mounted, free-standing frame or flown, engineered for weight and space.
- 03Processor
- Sends the picture to the modules and scales every source to the right size.
- 04Sources
- Media player for signage, laptop, camera or the presentation in the hall.
- 05Calibration
- Brightness and colour even across the whole surface, matched to the room.
- 06Control and content
- On, off and source with one button; content scheduled through signage software.

LED wall, video wall or projector?
Three ways to make a large picture. The room, the light and the viewing distance decide which fits.
| LED wall | Video wall (displays) | Laser projection | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Size | Almost unlimited, built from modules | Several displays side by side and stacked | Large picture, depending on distance and screen |
| Seams | None | Thin bezels between displays | None |
| Daylight | Good, even in bright rooms | Good in normal office light | Works best with dimmed light |
| Viewing distance | Depends on the pixel pitch | Sharp up close too | Medium to far, as in a hall |
| Investment | Highest, especially at a fine pitch | Medium | Lowest for a large picture |
Our starting point: an LED wall for reception, retail and rooms with daylight; a video wall for information read up close; laser projection for halls and large pictures in dimmed rooms.
Which pixel pitch for which viewing distance?
Pixel pitch is the distance between two LEDs in millimetres. Rule of thumb: the optimal viewing distance in metres is about twice the pitch.
| Optimal viewing distance | Typical use | |
|---|---|---|
| 1.2 mm | From ± 2.5 m | Boardroom, meeting room |
| 1.5 mm | From ± 3 m | Reception, small hall |
| 1.9 mm | From ± 4 m | Hall, retail |
| 2.6 mm | From ± 5 m | Large hall, hospitality, club |
| 3.9 mm | From ± 8 m | Stage, event, large space |
For small text or pictures viewed up close we choose a finer pitch. A finer pitch is sharper, but also costs more per m².
What drives the cost of an LED wall?
There is no fixed price per m²: it depends on the choices below. After an on-site meeting you receive a design with a quote.
- 01
Size
The number of m², and with it the number of modules.
- 02
Pixel pitch
A finer pitch means more LEDs per m² and a higher price.
- 03
Indoor or outdoor
Outdoors needs more brightness and weatherproof modules.
- 04
Structure and mounting
Wall, frame or flown, and what the surface can carry.
- 05
Processor and sources
How many sources, and whether the picture needs splitting or scaling.
- 06
Content and management
Signage software, calibration and maintenance after handover.
How we work
- 01
On-site meeting
Viewing distance, light, wall and use: we check it on site.
- 02
Design and quote
Size, pitch, structure and sources, with a drawing and a quote.
- 03
Installation
Our own team builds the structure, mounts and connects.
- 04
Calibration and management
Colour and brightness calibrated, a walkthrough for users, then maintenance.
Frequently asked questions about LED walls
01What is pixel pitch?
Pixel pitch is the distance in millimetres between the centres of two LEDs. A smaller pitch means more LEDs per m² and a sharper picture up close. Rule of thumb: the optimal viewing distance in metres is about twice the pitch.
02Which is better: an LED wall or a projector?
An LED wall is brighter, has no seams and works well in daylight, but costs more. A laser projector makes a large picture for less, but works best in a dimmed room. For reception and retail we usually choose an LED wall, for halls often projection.
03What does an LED wall cost per m²?
That depends mainly on the pixel pitch, indoor or outdoor, and the structure. A fine pitch for a boardroom costs considerably more per m² than a coarser pitch for a stage. After an on-site meeting you receive a tailored quote.
04Can we put our own content on the LED wall?
Yes. With signage software you schedule pictures, video and text yourself, or you connect a laptop or camera. We set it up and show you how it works.
05Can we rent an LED wall for an event?
Yes, for temporary use you can rent video equipment through our rental service. For daily use a permanent installation costs less.
A large picture, but which one?
Book an on-site meeting. We measure the viewing distance and advise which solution and pitch fit.
