Lighting installations
Lighting for hospitality, clubs and events.
Kooijman Connection designs and installs lighting for hospitality, clubs and event venues: from lighting plan and fixtures to the DMX network and controls your staff can use themselves. With our own team, and management after handover.
What goes into a lighting installation?
A lighting installation is more than hanging lamps. It starts with a lighting plan: which atmosphere at which moment, and where the light needs to fall. Then come the fixtures, the cabling, the DMX network that drives it all and a control panel with fixed scenes, so the light looks right every night.
- 01Lighting plan
- Positions, intensity and colour per zone, matched to interior and use.
- 02Fixtures
- Architectural and ambient lighting, plus show and effect lighting for clubs and events.
- 03DMX network
- Cabling and splitters, or DMX over the network (Art-Net, sACN) for larger spaces.
- 04Control
- A wall panel with scenes, a lighting desk or an app.
- 05Programming
- Scenes per moment, such as arrival, dinner and party. A base show for clubs.
- 06With sound and video
- Lighting, speakers and projection as one system, as at ORYN.

ORYN
Media Park, Hilversum
ORYN is the 5,830 m² modular event venue in the former Studio 21 on the Media Park. In the long entrance hall Kooijman Connection hung lighting fixtures, Bose Professional DesignMax Luna pendant loudspeakers and projectors. Light, sound and video work together, so guests get one continuous experience from the door.

CLUB 079
Zoetermeer
Kooijman Connection is working on the technical installation of CLUB 079 in Zoetermeer. The club is under construction; more here after the opening.
What does each space need?
Hospitality, clubs and event venues each use light differently. That drives the choice of fixtures and control.
| Hospitality | Club | Event venue | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Goal | Atmosphere that follows the time of day | Energy and show on the music | A different look for every event |
| Fixtures | Dimmable ambient and accent lighting | Moving heads, wash, strobe and effects | Architectural lighting plus show lighting |
| Control | Wall panel with fixed scenes | Lighting desk or DJ-driven, with a base show | Scenes per room, with connections for external crews |
| Watch out for | Colour temperature and dimming behaviour | Heat, load and safe rigging | Flexible and quick to change over |
Permanent installation or rental?
For light that is on every week, a permanent installation is the logical choice. For a single night, renting costs less.
| Permanent installation | Rental per event | |
|---|---|---|
| Suits | Daily or weekly use | One-off events and temporary dressing |
| Control | Fixed scenes, your staff operates it | Pre-set or with a technician |
| Look | Hidden cabling, fixtures that fit the interior | Visible stands and truss |
| Cost | One-off investment, then low per use | Per occasion, no investment |
| Maintenance | With a management contract | Included in the rental |
You can also combine them: a permanent base for every day, topped up with rental gear for the big nights. See our rental
What drives the cost of a lighting installation?
No two spaces are the same, so no fixed prices. After an on-site meeting you receive a lighting plan with a quote. These are the factors that make the difference.
- 01
Floor area and ceiling height
Determine how many fixtures are needed and how they hang.
- 02
Type of fixtures
Ambient lighting is simpler than moving heads and effects.
- 03
Control
A wall panel with scenes, a lighting desk or both.
- 04
Cabling and mounting
Ceiling, truss, rigging and the routes for power and DMX.
- 05
Programming
The number of scenes and, for clubs, a base show.
- 06
Sound and video
Integration with speakers and projection in one system.

Frequently asked questions about lighting installations
01What is DMX?
DMX512 is the standard lighting desks and control panels use to drive fixtures. One DMX line (universe) has 512 channels. In larger spaces DMX runs over the network via Art-Net or sACN, so more fixtures and rooms fit on one system.
02Can our staff operate the lighting themselves?
Yes. We program fixed scenes, such as arrival, dinner and party, under buttons on a wall panel or in an app. For clubs we also set up a base show, so the light follows the music without a lighting operator.
03Can you extend or take over an existing lighting installation?
Yes. We start with an inventory of fixtures, cabling and control, then advise what stays, what can be improved and what needs replacing.
04Do you also supply sound and video?
Yes. At ORYN on the Media Park, Kooijman Connection delivered lighting, Bose Professional loudspeakers and projection as one experience. One partner for all the technology keeps systems from working against each other.
05Which brands do you work with?
We are brand-independent and choose fixtures based on the space, its use and the budget. The lighting plan and quote name the brands and models we propose.
A space that could look better?
Book an on-site meeting. We look at the space and draw up a lighting plan that fits how you use it.
